Before I begin I just want to say the purpose of this post is not to condemn, complain, or criticize; but since it's been almost a month since anybody has posted, I think it's time to have a civil discussion on how we can come together to make this game work.
When I started this game I didn't really have an objective for it. I just wanted to create an open sandbox world so people could throw their characters in and see how they bounce off each other. What kind of relationships people could build. That formula has worked before in the past--with a lot of the same players from the old Cybertron's Core games. Of course, I realize we kind of trapped lightning in a bottle with some of those games. Times have changed, a lot of us have grown up. I know I don't have the same amount of time and energy to dedicate to RPing and managing a board that I did back then.
But, well, maybe what we need is an objective, or a direction, or some kind of goal. Maybe some kind of event that forces our disparate characters closer together? I'd like to give this game one more fair shake before we throw in the towel. Any suggestions, guys?

It seems to me like we kind of ended up in smaller cliques but are having a hard time getting these cliques to interact with each other. I think having an objective that forces us into action together would be beneficial at this point.

Conor and I went to a private DM to finish up a scene. I think it is over and we have been brainstorming a new scene. One that would hopefully get more people involved.
The problem is, putting together an arc and playing a villain/mc-guffins/ etc seems to be outside my hulu-hoop.
Typically a moderator or some such person directs a story arc. Perhaps we can discuss how to implement such things. The one thing I would request is such story arcs should have a definitive end, and an ending date. Such as 30 days.

So maybe what we need is some sort of cataclysmic event to bring everyone together, but also leave room for new characters to come in and be like "yeah, I've just been hanging around in the background til now." Any suggestions?

My bad - I've been lacking a lot of energy to RP lately.
For events, I think it's better if it's something where smaller groups can work together. One of the challenges of "fantasy kitchen sink" settings is getting characters to interact as they often have very little in common and tend to operate in separate circles.
Maybe an outside antagonist would force characters to work together? Or an opportunity for characters to obtain some kind of loot?

I think a quest would be a lot of work to manage. Some sort of doomsday scenario would probably be easier. But what kind of doomsday, hmm?
